Voneus begins bringing better broadband to Walney Island

Walney Island will host Cambium Networks and Voneus’ largest gigabit wireless broadband network.
London 12th June 2024: After trials covering over one thousand homes, Voneus and Cambium Networks have partnered to design its largest 60 GHz cnWave network in the world.
Voneus has launched a gigabit wireless broadband build on Walney Island starting in the North Scale area. The first customer installations are scheduled for the beginning of July.
Voneus’ new network will deliver fast, reliable internet by leveraging millimeter-wave technology, enabling efficient and significantly improved connectivity for Walney Island residents.
In partnership with the local authority, Voneus has selected lighting columns to deploy the network which is capable of delivering up to 1 gigabit speeds both upload and download.
Cambium Network’s VP of Engineering, Antony Holmes said, "Partnering with Voneus on the Walney Island project marks a significant milestone for Cambium Networks. Deploying our 60 GHz cnWave technology to connect almost 5,000 premises is the largest project we've undertaken. This collaboration showcases our commitment to delivering reliable, high-speed internet to underserved communities, transforming connectivity for residents and businesses alike."
